Young Adult and College Outreach
It is a vital role of our ministry to maintain outreach to our young adults. Studies now show that teen adolescence is extending into the early 20’s of our young people. We need to prepare to aid them in their journey as Young Orthodox Christian Adults.
This is why OYM has created three programs to prepare and aid our youth as they become adults, one for recognizing high school/college graduates, one for keeping connected to your students while at school, and one for reaching out to students new to your area. Below you will find a short description and links to these programs.
Graduating from High School is a major event in any young person’s life. It is a rite of passage that is special and will never happen again. Our role as Young Adult mentors is to help our youth celebrate their accomplishments and make a smooth transition to their next road in life. How can we do this? Learn more here!
We have found that college students find their time away at school exhilarating but at the same instance a bit lonely. Many yearn for the church family life and remember their good experiences and friends fondly. However, the longer they are away from home the more foreign their church experiences become. Learn how you can help maintain a lifeline for our college students.
Our greatest hope is that when one of our children walks into a church far, far away that God is watching over them and that some special person is taking care of them as one of their own. What we sometimes forget is that we may be that special person for someone else’s child far, far from home. Learn how you can welcome new college students here.
