Welcome to the 2021/2023 theme curriculum and resource for the Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministry! We hope that the materials provided here will aid you in your work with the youth in your parishes and homes. Please contact us with any questions or ideas.

This  first session gives youth an introduction to begin exploring what it means to be a caretaker in respect to their relationship with God. This session is designed for teens and older youth.

This session begins to look at the creation story in Genesis and our youth's connection to that story as caretakers and Christians.  Sessions provided for three age levels teens, youth ages 8 -11,              and minis ages 4-7.

For older youth & teens, this third (3rd) session looks at the end of Genesis and how it relates to fasting in relation. For younger youth, they continue learning the creation story and relate being caretakers to the the life of St. Nicholas.

The fourth Session at the end of Genesis and how it relates to the Nativity of our Lord. For Teens and Youth it looks at our relationship with God and one another.For younger youth, they continue learning the creation story and relate being caretakers to loving others.

The fifth session (February), focuses on Soul Care.  What does it mean to take care of our souls and why is this important everyday and especially during Great Lent. There are two age groups available for this session - teen and youth (ages 8-12).

The sixth/fifth session (April), focuses on Caring for our dead. Youth will consider how Christ’s death and resurrection informs our understanding of death, how we are called to respond to death, and how we care for the dead just as we do for the living. By understanding our Orthodox teachings and customs surrounding death the participants will come to a deeper understanding of the meaning of our own death as well as Christ’s resurrection. There are two age groups available for this session - teen and youth (ages 8-12).

The seventh session (May), focuses on being Caretakers of the Church.  Youth will consider what the Church is and what it means to be a part of “The Body of Christ.”As believing Christians we are called to take responsibility for Christ’s Church both physically and spiritually. By comprehending how we relate to Christ through His Church we come to understand how, through our active support of the parish or diocese, we fulfill our calling to be a blessing to our fellow parishioners, church members, and the greater community as well. This session may be used with both age groups  - teen and youth (ages 8-12).

The eigth and final session (June), focuses on all apects of being a Caretaker of God's creation.   Youth will review the concepts from all prior sessions, wrapping them up into a plan of action moving forward in life! This session may be used with both age groups  - teen and youth (ages 8-12).
